Fights We Want To See After Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier 2

After ten months away from the Octagon, Conor McGregor announced his return this week. The former Featherweight Champion and Lightweight Champion will fight Dustin Poirier on January 23, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. This much-anticipated fight is a rematch from UFC 178 – all the way back in 2014 –  a fight won by Conor McGregor in the first round by TKO.

Now that we are getting this awesome fight, we should look at some other UFC fights we would love to see. A few of these are highly unlikely, but UFC fans from everywhere would fill with excitement if they were ever to happen.

These are some of the fights we would love to see happen.

George St. Pierre vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

It has been three years since George St. Pierre last stepped foot in the Octagon, but if he were ever to return, it would cause a frenzy. Now, there are plenty of fighters we would love to see step in the ring with George St. Pierre, but no one more than Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Khabib at 28-0 and St. Pierre at 26-2 are two of the greatest fighters in MMA history. If they ever were to agree to a fight (there are betting odds on this speculative fight), it would go down as one of the biggest in history.

Jon Jones vs. Israel Adesanya

The current Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya and former Light Heavyweight Champion Jone Jones have some beef going back to UFC 236. That beef has not stopped building, and now some of the biggest fighters in UFC history believe it is time for the two to square off in the Octagon.

Jon Jones and his continuing contract disputes with the UFC keeps this fight from happening. However, the money this super fight could generate could be enough to lurer back the controversial fighter.

What weight class they fight in is the next obstacle to this bout happening. It is most likely Israel Adesanya would move up a class, as he has previously fought at 100kg – although that was in kickboxing and not MMA.

Come on, UFC, make this fight happen!

Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier

Jon Jones again! Well, as one of the most polarizing fighters in UFC history, he is a big draw. And the chance to watch him and Daniel Cormier fight for a third time is certainly on the bucket list of many UFC fans.

The two were jawing at each other over twitter the last few weeks, but we all know it would be more fun if they settled their beef in the ring. The likelihood of us getting Jones v. Cormier III is low. Cormier is retired and Jones, between his contract dispute with the UFC and talks of him moving up to the Heavyweight division to fight Stipe Miocic, means this fight is a longshot. But hey, a fan can dream, right?

Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou

Speaking of Stipe Miocic, this fight of all of them on the list is the most likely to happen. Dana White has already said that Francis Ngannou gets the next shot at the Heavyweight Champion (sorry Jones). The two fought back at UFC 220 in 2018. Stipe Miocic won by unanimous decision, in what some consider the greatest heavyweight tilt of all time. This fight is in the talks, so let’s hope they can come to an agreement, and we get this fight at some point in 2021.

There are Betting Odds on Some of These Fights

Not every fight on this list is open for betting. However, some online sportsbooks want to get a jump on things and offer odds well before anything is officially scheduled. An excellent spot for these UFC futures is the BetUS sportsbook. Odds on the potential Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones bout are open, as well as Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Floyd Mayweather and Jon Jones versus Francis Ngannou.

Betting on these potential fights before they are official could net you some better betting value. If you bet on these fights and they never happen, your bet is simply refunded. So, why not check out the odds they have to offer and get even more excited about some of the biggest potential fights in 2021.
