Top 5 UFC fights in 2021

Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira:

After UFC 264, where Dustin Poirier secured his second win over Conor Mcgregor via TKO it was clear that he will be now facing the champion next. Though UFC president Dana White stated that the fourth fight between Conor and Dustin has to take place but till the time Conor heals back from the injury which he faced in the first round of the fight and which resulted in the doctor stoppage, UFC will try to set up Dustin against the champion Oliveira. Charles Oliveira won the belt at UFC 262 when he got the TKO victory over Michael Chandler as they both fought for the vacant UFC lightweight title.

Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington:

One of the highly anticipated fights of 2021 is the rematch between Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and top challenger Colby Covington. The pair fought at UFC 245 and Usman picked up the win at the end of the fifth round. The fight was a back and forth battle with either man ready to give up. Going into the fifth round 2 of the 3 judges had Colby winning the fight. Since that fight, Usman has defended his title thrice with two of them being against Masvidal and one against Gilbert Burns. Colby has just collected one over former champ Tyron Woodley.

Petr Yan vs Aljamain Sterling:

A rematch for the bantamweight title is what the UFC fans have been dying to see. The current champion Aljamain Sterling won the belt via DQ against the former champion Petr Yan. The fight was four-rounds long and at the end of the fourth round, Petr landed an illegal knee to the down opponent’s head which happened due to a piece of wrong advice from his corner. Till that moment Yan was winning the fight. The pair had a lot of disputes between them and were going back and forth on social media before and after the fight. Fans are waiting for the announcement of this fight which is probably going to take place by the end of the year.

Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker:

Rematches are one of the best fights to watch as it becomes more competitive and more interesting when two fighters face each other again knowing that one of them has already got a win over the other, which raises the skates of the fight. One such rematch that UFC will be putting up very soon is between the former middleweight king Robert Whittaker and the current champion Israel Adesanya. Israel defeated Robert at UFC 243 by a second-round KO. That fight was a one-sided affair and Israel won that battle very easily. Since that fight, Adesanya is 3-1 in his MMA career whereas Whittaker has racked up three consecutive wins.

Stipe Miocic vs Jon Jones:

Jon Jones in 2020 announced that he will be moving up to the heavyweight division hence he vacated his light-heavyweight belt. Right after that Stipe Miocic lost his belt to Francis Ngannou and the speculations regarding Jones and Ngannou fight began. But due to the failed negotiations process, the fight never got finalized. Now Ngannou will be facing the winner of the interim title fight between Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane. According to some rumours, Jon Jones might fight Stipe Miocic in the meantime.
