The main attraction of tonight’s UFC Mexico City event was a crucial men’s flyweight matchup between Steve Erceg and Brandon Moreno.

The promotion’s former flyweight champion, Moreno (23-8-2 MMA), was making his first appearance since defeating Amir Albazi by majority decision at UFC Edmonton in November. Before the triumph, “The Assassin Baby” had just lost to Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval, respectively, back-to-back.

After losing to Alexandre Pantoja and Kai Kara-France, Steve Erceg (12-4 MMA) went into tonight’s main event hoping to end a two-fight losing streak. The Australian was on an incredible 11-fight winning streak until those defeats.

The main event of UFC Mexico City tonight was an exciting 25-minute event. Steve Erceg was able to establish his range early in the second session, but Brandon Moreno got off to a fast start. Following five rounds of thrilling action, the judges in attendance unanimously decided in favor of “The Assassin Baby” after the fighters traded leather throughout the final three rounds. Moreno is in a strong position to win the title again after the victory.

Brandon Moreno defeated Steve Erceg by unanimous decision (49-46 x3) in the official UFC Mexico City results.
