The main attraction of tonight’s UFC Vegas 105 event was a crucial men’s featherweight matchup between Josh Emmett and Lerone Murphy.
For the first time since defeating Bryce Mitchell via knockout at UFC 296 in December of last year, Emmett (19-5 MMA) was making a comeback. The 40-year-old was coming off consecutive defeats to Yair Rodriguez and Ilia Topuria, respectively, until that incredible finish.
Lerone Murphy (16-0-1 MMA) had won seven straight fights going into tonight’s main event; his most recent victory came via unanimous decision against Dan Ige at the UFC 308 event last October. Before tonight’s bout, “The Miracle” had won four of his previous five bouts by decision.
“The Miracle” had yet another outstanding performance at the main event of UFC Vegas 105. While busting up his front leg with some sly sidekicks and calf kicks, Murphy was able to use his speed and agility to keep Emmett guessing. Although Josh Emmett managed to hit some good right hands, Lerone Murphy outperformed him for the most part of their 25-minute fight and earned the decision victory.
