And now that the dust has settled down, MacDonald has come out with his statement on the fight. The former UFC star mentioned on his Twitter page that he did not mentally show up for the fight. He also gave props to Mousasi for winning the fight. You can see the statement from MacDonald below.

“Last night was a tough one for me, unfortunately I didnt mentally show up ready to take on a competitive fight and  froze in the cage. In this sport you pay a high price if you’re not dialed in and ready to go. I have zero excuses, gegard was a fantastic champion last night.”

The loss to Mousasi puts an end to the two fight winning streak of MacDonald. He is now 20-5 in his career with losses coming against Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Stephen Thompson and now, Mousasi. Despite the loss, he is still the Bellator Welterweight champion which is something he can look forward to.
