American MMA fighter Cedric Marks who competed in the middleweight division is facing a death penalty for a double homicide after he allegedly killed two people and buried them in shallow graves. The death sentence penalty charges are being pushed by Texas prosecutors.
The Bell County District Attorney’s Office has filed a formal notice seeking a death penalty against Cedric Marks. The 45-year old MMA fighter was indicted of killing Jenna Scott, 28 (ex-girlfriend of Cedric Marks) and Michael Swearingin, 32 on Jan. 3 at in Killeen, Texas. Their bodies were found almost a week later in Clearview, Oklahoma.
Marks has pleaded not guilty, but he remains in custody with a $1.7 million bond. His current partner 26-years old Maya Maxwell is also facing charges.
In February earlier this year, MMA India reported that Cedric Marks escaped from his prison transport van and was later recaptured after a manhunt. Cedric Marks last competed inside the cage back in 2018 where he lost via TKO.
He compiled a record of 30-27 in his professional career and was on a six-fight losing streak. Nicknamed as “Spiderman”, he also worked as a trainer in a gym several years ago.
According to Police, he was also a “person of interest” in the disappearance of the mother of one of his children back in 2009.
