Daniel Cormier, former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, recently voiced his apprehension regarding Conor McGregor’s decision to cancel the UFC 303 press conference. The event, which was scheduled to take place in Dublin, was meant to promote McGregor’s highly anticipated fight against Michael Chandler. However, McGregor’s sudden cancellation has raised eyebrows and left fans wondering about the implications for the upcoming bout.
McGregor issued an apology for missing the pre-fight press conference, but the reason behind the cancellation remains undisclosed. Cormier believes that this development could potentially jeopardize the fight itself.
Daniel Cormier States Why Conor McGregor not fighting at UFC 303 is Worrisome
Speaking on his ESPN show “Good Guy/Bad Guy” alongside Chael Sonnen, Cormier expressed his concerns: “Start to brace yourself a little bit for disappointment. When everyone is as tight-lipped as they are right now, to me, it’s a little worrisome.”
Sonnen, on the other hand, sees McGregor’s absence from the press conference as a sign of intense focus on the fight. However, he also warned that if McGregor fails to compete on June 29, it could signal the announcement of his retirement.
“If Conor McGregor does not fight Michael Chandler on June 29, which I think he’s going to, (but) if he doesn’t, I would go a step further as to tell you that that will be the announcement of his retirement,” Sonnen said
As the UFC 303 event approaches, fans eagerly await further updates. Will McGregor’s absence impact the fight, or will he make a triumphant return to the octagon? Only time will tell.
