Amidst his ongoing and lengthy absence from the UFC, Conor McGregor has found support from none other than a former rival and an ex-UFC superstar, Nate Diaz himself.
Nate Diaz stands up for Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor, the charismatic former double UFC champion, has been grappling with a prolonged period of inactivity within the UFC. Since his last bout at UFC 264 in July 2021, McGregor has been sidelined due to a leg injury sustained during his third clash against his fierce rival, Dustin Poirier.
While he has now recovered from the injury, there has been no solid lead on when “Mystic Mac” will be back in the Octagon and this forced hiatus has left fans and pundits speculating about his return.
Nate Diaz, a former UFC superstar and former adversary of McGregor recently expressed solidarity with McGregor. Diaz, who had faced similar contractual challenges in the past, empathized with McGregor’s situation on social media.
On X (formerly Twitter), Diaz shared a quote from McGregor’s recent conversation on The Mac Life podcast, where “The Notorious” insisted that he has been losing interest due to his fights being postponed.
“This was me for years before Conor even got here they want u to die before u get out these contracts it’s up to u to make something pop no one gonna help you but you. Free Conor it’s at pattys day in this b*tch” wrote Diaz.

In the podcast, here’s what McGregor said about his current hiatus away from the UFC:
“I’m wrapping up this tour, I’ve got the St. Paddy’s Day festivities coming up, and then I’m gonna get back and regroup. I’m gonna test myself physical wise on the treadmill and go about the McGregor Fast way and get myself right back. I had a camp in Cannes, the South of France, I had a camp in Dubai where I had world champions training with me where I was hoping for a December date, then a January date. Then it keeps getting pushed back, then I lose interest and stop full training for a while. Not stop training, I will always train, but stop full training and drinking a little bit. I’m going to go back and regroup.” [H/T BJPenn.com]
