Francis Ngannou is not a free agent anymore, but the former UFC heavyweight champion reveals why his promotional debut for PFL isn’t happening anytime soon.
I’m hoping to have, the boxing fight before I fight in the PFL: Francis Ngannou
“The Predator” had become a free agent after parting ways with the promotion earlier this year. After much speculation and rumors about where his next destination will be, “The Predator” is now officially confirmed to be heading to PFL, and will be competing in the promotion’s PPV ‘Superfight Division’.
The 36-year-old has been out of action since his victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 back in January 2022 and is set to make his PFL debut next year, which will mark at least a two-year hiatus away from the cage.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Ngannou explained that his promotional debut is happening in 2024 because he’s focused on making his debut as a boxer in this year.
“First of all, it’s my life,” said Ngannou. “I will live it on my way if you’re happy, good. If you’re not, oh no, I’m sorry… Also, PFL will also need time to find an opponent for me. To build up the opponent, right? Because I’m not going in next month to fight, and also, there’s the boxing component. That is still in consideration.”
“We don’t have an announcement, but as I’ve said, I’ve spent a lot of time on this,” He continued, “We can have a big fight or not, or just a tune-up fight sometime soon. That’s what I’m hoping to have, the boxing fight before I fight in the PFL. That’s also one of the reasons why 2024 is the best fit.”
David Feldman just assumed that I’m so expensive: Ngannou
Before Ngannou landed in the PFL, there were many speculations about other promotions making approaches and BKFC had been in the headlines for quite some time. However, the promotion’s president David Feldman. had claimed that Ngannou’s financial demands were unrealistic.
And now, the French-Cameroonian fighter has hit back with calling Feldman “Two-faced”.
“I think he (Feldman) just assumed that I’m so expensive,” Ngannou went on, “Obviously, because he had to take a loan on his house to do his [BKFC 41] show. Then, he assumed that the loan couldn’t pay me because I never talked to him. My team never spoke to him. Then when I saw his comment, I was like, ‘Where is this guy coming from?’ Then I checked my phone, called my team, and asked ‘Has anyone talked with this guy at all? That I’m not aware of.’ And everyone checked, like no.”
“We haven’t talked to this guy, so I don’t know where he came from. So that’s why I didn’t even talk about it, this guy is a joke. At some point, he was promoting his event, he was going to do anything to get PR here and there, anything he can do. But I never talked to that guy, we never asked him anything. And he never even reached out, not to say we weren’t interested. We were, but he never even reached out. So he didn’t even know if we were interested,” he added.
