Francis Ngannou is back on a roll after what was a disappointing 2018 for him. At UFC on ESPN 1: Ngannou vs Velasquez, he crushed the dreams of UFC fans everywhere by defeating the returning MMA legend. Now, Ngannou wants the belt, and he doesn’t care for Brock Lesnar at all.
Francis Ngannou had been on a hot streak until early in 2018, he lost a fight to Stipe Miocic. This was followed by another loss to Derrick Lewis, one that saw a poor performance from him. Since then, he had won against Curtis Blaydes, thereby coming into the fight with Cain Velasquez with at least some sort of momentum behind him. At the event, he proved he still had it, when he knocked out Cain Velasquez in 26 seconds when Velasquez’ knee buckled.
“You can look at the video, and you will see the uppercut,” he said. “That might be why the knee buckled, because he got disconnected.”
Now, he is focused on one thing and one thing only — winning the belt. He said he was not interested in a fight against Miocic unless Miocic was holding the belt, but instead wanted to face Daniel Cormier — who is currently out with a back injury.
Even if Cormier comes back soon, he is set to face Brock Lesnar — something Ngannou is disgusted about.
“For Brock Lesnar, he’s just walking around talking sh*t, but he never shows up for a fight.”
Should Lesnar show up after leaving WWE, a fight against Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight belt seems to be waiting for him.
