Frankie “The Answer” Edgar makes his way back into the Octagon on July 27 to contend for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight title. Edgar did not step into the Octagon since April 2018 when he beat Cub Swanson via unanimous decision.
Edgar will be going toe-to-toe with the 145-pound champion Max Holloway. Both Edgar and Holloway were booked to fight each other before as well but it never happened because of injuries.
“I just feel like I’ve been preparing for Max for almost, you know, 2 1/2 years now,” Edgar says.
About his underdog status, Edgar said the following :
“It’s a familiar spot for me, you know, a lot of people tend to overlook me.”
With a fight camp on the horizon, the New Jersey native reveals that featherweight prospect Zabit Magomedsharipov will join him for training.
“He’s a monster, man. He’s definitely the future of this division. And, yeah, I’m super pumped to have him to get ready for Max, you know, I think if any, he’s probably the best training partner I could have for Max.”
Edgar also made a prediction about the fight :
“Yeah, I think we’re gonna both meet in the middle, we’re gonna let it fly,” said the fighter. “I know he’s hungry, I know I’m hungry. I’ve been kind of gunning for this title for such a long time now that I’m gonna leave it all in there and I’m pretty sure Max will too.”
