The controversial split decision ending to the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou matchup has become the talk of the combat sports town, and Conor McGregor has weighed in on the matter.

Last Saturday night in Riyadh, Fury and Ngannou locked horns in a 10-round official sanctioned fight. The bout marked Ngannou’s debut as a boxer, while Fury;s WBC title was not up for grabs.
Although the pre-fight odds favoured Fury heavily, the underdog Ngannou proved to be a much toughter challenge for “The Gypsy King”. The former UFC heavyweight champ kept constant pressure on Fury and even dropped him in round three, although the Brit did enough throughout the 10 rounds to win the scores of two out of three judges.
The fight, which was actually assumed to be a walk in the park for Fury, ended up being a very close call with brilliant performance from Ngannou’s side as well, with the final scores being 96-93, 95-94, 94-95 in favour of Fury.
Speaking to TNT Sports, McGregor opened up on the fight. Having said earlier that he is not counting out his former colleague Ngannou, McGregor shed appraisal on both the fighters.
“Lovely shot, it caught him in the back of the head,” said McGregor on Ngannou kncoing Fury down in third round. “More off balance as well, but fair play to Tyson. He is a tough man as well. Stong chin. And Jesus, Ngannou’s a poweful boy as well. Tyson couldn’t hold him. Tyson could not hold him. He kept; he was just missing with that back hand. Great fight. Great to watch. Heavyweight boxing is exciting!”
“Especially from the ringside. That’s the two guys I’ve seen now ringside. I saw Anthony Joshua in his performance against the Finnish guy, and now I saw Fury. Oh, that’s some great fights in the boxing heavyweight division. It’s on fire at the minute,” the former double champ added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
