UFC Welterweight challenger Gilbert Burns predicts that Israel Adesanya will beat Jon Jones at any weight class.

The rivalry between Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones has intensified after Adesanya’s phenomenal victory over Paulo Costa at UFC 253. It was not just the victory, but the style of the win that won Israel Adesanya a lot of praise from fellow MMA fighters. That night inside the Octagon, he displayed why he should be considered the greatest striker in MMA.

Immediately after the victory, during the press conference when Adesanya was asked if he would be interested in fighting Jon Jones, he said he would be open to it, but will have to ask his coach Eugene. Jones was quick to snap back and call him out for not being confident in his abilities to defeat him at Light Heavyweight. The two fighters went back and forth, and the rivalry quickly escalated when Izzy said to Jon Jones that his mother wouldn’t be proud of him, and started bringing up his past controversies with drugs.

Without the build-up itself, the fight has “Fight of the Year” written all over it. And now that the two fighters hate each other, it wouldn’t be a tough fight to sell. Both of them have never lost a Pro-MMA fight, and both have cleaned their respective divisions. While Jon Jones has the advantage of having the best chin and the best fight IQ in the game, Adesanya has the advantage of having the best striking abilities. It’s hard to predict who will win the fight at Light Heavyweight, but we know it is going to be one hell of a fight. Gilbert Burns, however, has predicted that Israel Adesanya is much superior to Jon Jones, and will beat him at any division.

My opinion @stylebender is too good and he beats @JonnyBones any weight class”, tweeted Gilbert Burns.

Gilbert Burns vs Kamaru Usman called off for UFC 256

Gilbert Burns vs Kamaru Usman was scheduled for the second time to headline the UFC 256 card, after it fell out first when Gilbert Burns tested positive for Covid-19. As per reports, the fight fell off again.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani said that “Usman needs a little more time,” so the UFC is targeting a potential date in January or February. The promotion is yet to identify a new headline fight for the UFC 256 card, but they are looking at Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington.
