Gokhan Saki set the UFC and MMA world on fire with his octagon debut against Brazilian kickboxer, Henrique Da Silva at UFC Fight Night 117. However, the hype train behind him was abruptly derailed by Khalil Rountree in his next fight. While he has predominantly fought at light heavyweight almost through-out his career, he shockingly challenged fellow former K-1 striker Mark Hunt, who happens to be one of the bigger heavyweights. Hunt soon accepted the challenge and the two now seem set to lock horn with each other. Saki has now come out and revealed how he relishes opportunity of facing a legend like Hunt.
Hunt has lost his last two fights against two grapplers and this might be his last outing in the UFC, as he seems adamant on leaving the promotion. “The Super Samoan” did win his last fight against a striker Derrick Lewis and thus he will relish facing another striker.
Saki currently seems to be on cloud nine, as his wish to face Hunt has probably been granted. In one of his recent tweets, he recalled his childhood days when he used to watch Mark Hunt’s kickboxing matches. Here’s what he wrote:
When i was younger I would watch K1 on tv/internet and
@markhunt1974 was knocking them out cold and became the champ. Years later i myself fought in the K1. We never crossed. Again years later the possibility presents itself but this time in the Octagon. Would be an honour.
