Mixed Martial Arts is all set for it’s first ever trading deal. As much as trades are common in Football, NFL, NBA etc it’s a totally new concept in MMA. Ultimate Fighting Championship is finalizing a deal to trade Ben Askren for Demetrius Johnson with ONE Championship.
This is a big deal for fans, as they have always wanted to see Ben compete in the UFC with a legit contender. Ben signing with UFC offers an opportunity for MMA fans to watch the mouth-watering clash between Askren with the likes of Khabib, Conor, Colby, Woodley etc.
Johnson is the longest reigning champion in UFC history but his head coach Matt Hume serves as an executive vice president at ONE Championship and there’s a big fights for Johnson against ONE contenders. Johnson was considered the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world until his Aug. 4 split-decision loss to Henry Cejudo in a flyweight title fight in Los Angeles.
34-year-old Askren, a former two-time NCAA wrestling champion has had his fair share of beef with UFC president Dana White, when he called Askren “the most boring fighter in MMA history.”
