The super-fight between the former two-division champion and one of the all-time best George St-Pierre against the greatest juggernaut in the lightweight division the current lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is always in the news. It’s considered the biggest super fights that ever could take place in UFC history.
St-Pierre recently gave an interview to Daily Star and revealed that, as of yet, he hasn’t received an offer from the UFC concerning a potential fight with the lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chisanga Malata of the Daily Star posted this tweet after the interview with GSP.
Just off the phone with the 🐐…Georges St-Pierre.
He told me the #UFC “have not made me an offer yet” over a potential Khabib Nurmagomedov fight and he's unsure if he’ll take it.

GSP vs Khabib the fight for the best
Nurmagomedov has the former two-weight world champion locked firmly in his sights as he targets legacy-defining fights before calling time on his career. Khabib is now set to defend his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on October 24. Yet the chance to face a Hall of Famer in GSP is something Khabib has openly talked about, with rumours of a return gathering momentum when GSP posted pictures showing off a slimmer physique. And it also appears as that respect is completely mutual between the two fighters for each other.
While GSP was on the MMA TRUFAN podcast recently he talked about the fight and shared his thoughts stating “Khabib was very exciting for me because, for a fighter, a fighter doesn’t think like a normal person, A fighter always wants to fight a guy who seems invincible, a guy who seems like the perfect fighter, who is unbeatable,” St-Pierre added. “He has an aura of invincibility. So, that means if I do it I’ll be the first to have ever done it. It’s not a question of money. Yeah, the money is there but it’s not a question of money first. It’s a question of glory, of self-accomplishment, of making it in a way that you’ll be in history forever, for myself.”
In another interview recently with BT Sports, GSP said “Khabib right now, I believe, is the best fighter on the face of the earth,” he told Adam Catterall. “On the face of the planet, he is the best right now. Though, the former welterweight and middleweight champion admitted dropping weight to face Khabib is not something he was planning on doing.“I’m 39 years old, I don’t think I could go to 155lbs without my performance being compromised,” added GSP.
A match-up between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre offers a once in a lifetime spectacle for the fans. The MMA world is eagerly waiting to see Dana White and the UFC announce this huge fight someday. Chiefly, the fight would go a long way in definitively proving the most elite MMA fighter that the sport has ever seen.
Do you guys think this fight will do happen?
