Andy Ruiz Jr shocked the world last week when he knocked out the British superstar and IBF, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion of the world in the seventh round to become the new king of the division at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Joshua was initially supposed to fight Jarrell Miller, but he tested positive for PEDs and Andy Ruiz Jr. was the short replacement for Miller and took the fight on eight weeks notice.
Now that Ruiz Jr is champion, he now has the opportunity to market himself and get big-time sponsors for the fight. In fact, as per his manager, David A. Garcia they are in talks with Mars, which is the company that makes chocolate Bar snickers for an endorsement deal.
“It would mean an unlimited source of Snickers,” Garcia joked. “It would mean a high dentist bill.”
In fact, Andy Ruiz Jr is himself a big Snickers fan, so much so that he even as Snickers photo as his Twitter banner.
“My dad always gave me one of these when I was a little kid so maybe that’s why I’m a little chubby, too,” Ruiz said.
In his fight against Joshua, the newly crowned champion Ruiz wasn’t allowed to eat snickers as the New York State Athletic Commission didn’t want any unregulated substance inside his body. But in his previous bouts, he always ate sneakers before the fight as he was no hyperactive inside the ring and would get tired and Snickers was a shot of energy for him.
Congrats again on the upset @Andy_destroyer1 ! Victory is sweet, but so is the package we are sending you.
