Former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo has given his prediction for the upcoming flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno taking place at UFC 256 in Apex, Las Vegas.
Deiveson Figueiredo had a terrific 2020. He won the UFC flyweight title back in July in a dominating fashion by defeating Joseph Benavidez and then he successfully defended his title last month at UFC 255 against Alex Perez by submitting him in the first round.
Now he is all set to fight again at UFC 256 against Brandon Moreno in the main event. This is a huge opportunity for Deiveson Figueiredo, who is going to be headlining two back to back pay-per-view events.
Henry Cejudo picking Moreno to beat Deiveson Figueiredo
Both fighters accepted the fight on less than three weeks notice. While Deiveson Figueiredo is the betting favourite heading into this fight, former champion Henry Cejudo is picking Brandon Moreno to beat him.
“The only reason why Deiveson Figueiredo’s there is because of me,” Cejudo said (via MMA Fighting). “To me, he’s the lord of nothing. I’m the one that gave him that position. I’m allowing him to babysit my belt and he’s being a pretty good babysitter in my eyes.”
“Every time I watch the fights I just look at things the fighters are doing wrong and when I see that, even with Deiveson, this is why I think he’s gonna have a hard time and may potentially even lose to Brandon Moreno,” Cejudo said. “All you have to do with a guy like Deiveson Figueiredo is make him grapple for that first round because he’s cutting a lot of weight. By the time that second, third round hits he’s gonna start having that heavy muscle. So I’m actually gonna pick Brandon Moreno — which, he sucks too — but I’m gonna pick him to beat Deiveson Figueiredo.”
