Former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo has said that the hottest UFC prospect Khamzat Chimaev has what it takes to beat the UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Israel Adesanya in his last title defense defeated the former champion, Robert Whittaker, at UFC 271. The fight was a rematch of their first fight which took place at UFC 243, where Israel won the belt from Robert via 2nd round TKO. Now in the rematch, Israel defended his title and won the fight via decision. This was Israel’s fourth title defense and now the middleweight division doesn’t have many challenges left for Israel.

According to former two-division champion Henry Cejudo, Khamzat Chimaev is the only real tough challenge that has the potential to defeat Israel Adesanya in the middleweight setting.

“I don’t even gamble, but if I was a betting man, @KChimaev is the man that will stop Israel Adesanya.

If @stylebender could beat him I will shut up, I will apologize. But if that fight ever happens, I got Khamzat. He’s a whole other animal.”

“From what I’ve heard from a lot of people is that this dude literally trains like nobody has ever seen before.” Cejudo said in the video. “When you’re a wrestler and your like that and he’s driven. Man, I could see him easily beating Israel Adesanya.”

Israel Adesanya is 22-1 in MMA and has lost one fight in his MMA career against Jan Blachowicz. He is still undefeated in the middleweight category. He has defended his title against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori, and now Robert Whittaker. Now the next guy Israel might face is Jared Cannonier in his next title defense. After winning his fight at UFC 271, Israel Adesanya said that he wants to fight somebody new.

“The division is filled with killers, but I’m looking forward to fresh meat,” Adesanya said. … (I didn’t see his fight in) close detail. I just saw bits and pieces. I think he even got rocked. I saw he got taken down. Then, he elbowed Brunson. I didn’t take stock. I’ll go back and watch the fights later and see what it is. He made a statement. I even told him after the weigh-in, not the ceremonial one, I said, ‘Please, take this guy out so I can get some fresh meat. He said, ‘Bro, I’m trying to work.’ I said, ‘Me, too.’ So I’m a man of my word.”

On the other hand, Khamzat Chimaev has had one of the most amazing runs in the UFC. He is 4-0 in the portion with off those wins coming off finishes. In his four-fight UFC streak, he has absorbed the least number of strikes in UFC history. In his last fight, he faced Li Jingliang on October 30, 2021, at UFC 267. He won the bout via technical submission, choking Jingliang unconscious with a rear-naked choke in round one. Khamzat Chimaev at the moment is targeted to face former UFC welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns but the fight is not official yet.

Khamzat Chimaev has previously fought at middleweight and won that fight. He has an amazing style of fighting which is a mixture of wrestling and strong striking. Many people believe that Khamzat Chimaev is the real threat to the welterweight champion and the middleweight champion.
