Former flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo has said that former lightweight champion Conor McGregor should fight Tony Ferguson next as it’s a winnable fight for the Irishman. Conor McGregor is currently riding on a two-fight losing streak having lost to Dustin Poirier via stoppage at UFC 264 and UFC 257 respectively.
On the other hand, Tony Ferguson is also riding on a four-fight losing streak. In his last fight, he was defeated by Michael Chandler via knockout in the second round.
Ferguson has been going through a rough patch in his career. Prior to his loss to Chandler, he was defeated by Beniel Dariush at UFC 262. Before that, he was defeated by Charles Oliveira at UFC 256 which was preceded by his loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, which ended his 12-fight winning streak.
While, Conor is himself at a rough patch in his career, where he suffered a horrific injury, he has been eyeing a comeback to the Octagon. Henry Cejduo, however, thinks that Conor McGregor should take on a winnable fight and he thinks that a fight against Tony Ferguson could be favorable to the Irishman.
“For Conor McGregor, I like the Tony Ferguson fight for him. I think that fight is winnable for Conor. He cannot be taking these high-level competitions, he’s gonna get hurt,” Cejudo said on The Triple C & The Schmo show about McGregor. “He’s gonna continue to keep getting hurt, you know what I’m saying? I think, he goes up with Tony, and then maybe, of course, he’s a cash cow, give him whoever he wants at 55 or 70, but I think he needs to get his feet wet. At least f*****g win, man. Win a damn fight. I critique Conor McGregor’s videos and I tend to make a freaking living off that It’s crazy because there’s a lot of flaws that he has. As good as he was in the past, there’s still a lot of flaws that he has that he’s still not fixing. So I’m still not sold on that chump.”
