Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou states that he’s always the one to prove his former boss Dana White wrong and the latest example is him securing the boxing match with Tyson Fury.
So many people wanted me to fail: Francis Ngannou
Ngannou, who parted ways with the UFC earlier this year after the two sides failed to reach common grounds on contract renewal, will be facing the WBC heavyweight champ on 28th October in a 10-round contest in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After departing from the UFC, “The Predator” signed a deal with PFL back in May, where he not only has equity and leadership roles but will also be able to pursue challenges outside of the promotion, which the UFC wasn’t willing to do.
Speaking to SiriusXM, Ngannou opened up on his relation with the UFC prez Dana White, claiming that how his company did not want him to succeed, yet he is the one proving them wrong in the end.
“For some reason, I always prove Dana White wrong, even when he’s on my side. I always prove him wrong every single time. This is just our story. They were ready to do Jon Jones and Tyson Fury in MMA. Why they couldn’t do Ngannou and Fury in boxing?” said Ngannou. “I think that was just to take the fight away from me, and they even sent out a contract, which I think was very embarrassing because that contract was rejected, and they signed mine for the GIMIK Fight Promotions.”
“It’s not a secret that so many people wanted me to fail. They don’t want me to succeed. It’s not a secret. It’s quite obvious, and you all know about it,” he added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
