UFC Fight Night 139 marked the return of ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung in the Octagon after a 21-month layoff. Throughout the fight, Korean Zombie fought well and what seemed to be a win came crashing to the bottom as Chan Sung Jung got KO by a counter elbow at the very last second of the fight by opponent Yair Rodriguez.
The timing of the knockout makes the KO much more painful as it happened just a second before the 25-minute mark. And it was revealed post-fight that Korean Zombie was ahead on points in the scorecards.
This was the second time when Korean Zombie lost a fight via knockout.
Chan expressed his thoughts on his loss to Yair Rodriguez and said sorry to his fans. He also said that he is ashamed.
Korean Zombie wrote on his Facebook account (translated in English)
“I have no excuse. To everyone who has helped me, I’m truly sorry. thank you. To everyone who hates me, congratulations. I am not in a good enough condition to get on a plane so I will spend a few days in the hospital before going back to Korea. I am ashamed, but I will see you when I get home.”
