In a surprising turn of events, UFC legend Jose Aldo is set to make his comeback to the octagon at UFC 301 in Brazil. The 37-year-old Brazilian fighter had previously announced his retirement less than two years ago after a loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278. While fans are thrilled about Aldo’s return, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm.

Robert Whittaker opens up on Jose Aldo

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker expressed his confusion regarding Aldo’s decision to step back into the cage. During a recent episode of the MMArcade Podcast, Whittaker candidly stated:

“I don’t want to see him return… I feel like he’s done enough in the game. I don’t know why he’s coming back. But I feel like he’s done enough. I don’t like the idea of taking some time off, retiring, turning off that part of your mind, and then coming back to the game at 37 years old.” Whittaker’s sentiments echo the skepticism shared by some within the MMA community.

Aldo’s return pits him against Jonathan Martinez, currently ranked at No. 14 in the bantamweight division. The matchup promises fireworks, but it also raises questions.
