It is well known that Dana White and Francis Ngannou don’t see each other eye to eye anymore. After the UFC 299, Dana White made a series of comments mocking Ngannou and even claimed that Fury would have done the same to him. However, Fury’s failure to take the fight seriously made Francis a star.
What did Dana White say after UFC 299?
In the post fight interview he was asked about his thoughts on the Francis Ngannou vs Anthony Joshua fight. He replied, “Going into the [Tyson] Fury fight, if Fury trained for the fight, didn’t show up and looked like he ate Tyson Fury, this is probably the way that fight would have ended too. You know how I feel about crossover to boxing and all, that’s how they end. Just like that!”
What happened in the fight?
It was a showdown that transcends the boundaries of combat sports, Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou stepped into the squared circle to determine who would emerge as the ultimate heavyweight champion. Ngannou was coming from a close defeat to Tyson Fury, and was determined to take the win against Joshua. However, he failed to match the skill and striking power of the veteran heavyweight. He was caught by a surprise and Knocked out by Joshua.
White vs Ngannou
Francis Ngannou was one of the top UFC fighters when he decided to leave the promotion after failing to meet half way to sign a new contract.
Francis did the unthinkable and signed with the PFL (he is yet to fight) and decided to pursue opportunities in boxing as well. Ever since, Dana has repeatedly taken shots at Francis. He goes ahead to belittle the whole idea of MMA fighters crossing over to Boxing.
