Newly crowned UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria didn’t hold back when addressing former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor’s recent withdrawal from the UFC 303 main event.
Conor McGregor was all set to make his comeback after a hiatus of nearly three and a half years. Scheduled to face the sixth-ranked UFC lightweight contender and former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler, the anticipation for their clash was high. Unfortunately, just two weeks before the event, McGregor suffered an injury during a sparring session, leading to the cancellation of the much-awaited matchup.
Conor McGregor’s Tweet
In response to the cancellation, McGregor took to Twitter, vowing never to fight injured again and promising that he would never lose another fight. Conor McGregor tweeted, “I will never enter a fight hurt again, and I will never lose another fight.” However, his withdrawal didn’t sit well with Ilia Topuria.
You are mentally broken. That is your biggest lesson. You doubt yourself, your abilities, your preparation, that's why you don't show up. You are a bitch. https://t.co/1Uy9YaLSqK

Ilia Topuria’s Response
The newly crowned UFC featherweight champion didn’t mince words. He quoted McGregor’s tweet and called him “mentally broken.” Topuria’s scathing response highlighted McGregor’s self-doubt, lack of confidence in his abilities, and preparation.
Ilia Topuria tweeted, “You are mentally broken. That is your biggest lesson. You doubt yourself, your abilities, your preparation, that’s why you don’t show up. You are a bit*h.”
Ilia Topuria had an outstanding year, capturing the UFC featherweight championship by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. Not only did he become the first Spanish UFC champion, but he also holds the distinction of being the only fighter to knock out Volkanovski in the featherweight division. Fans eagerly await Topuria’s next opponent, with contenders like Alexander Volkanovski and newly crowned BMF champion Max Holloway in the mix for a shot at the title.
