For the first time, Charles Oliveira has publicly predicted that he will defeat Ilia Topuria for the UFC 317 title.

The headline event of the June 28 card will feature Oliveira and Topuria vs. Islam Makhachev, the longtime lightweight champion, who is making a (perhaps terrifying) jump up to welterweight.

In the history of the UFC, Oliveira owns the marks for both the most finishes and submissions. Nevertheless, the majority of supporters think he will struggle to keep up with the stone-fisted Topuria.

The Brazilian implores you to disagree.

Charles Oliveira makes an audacious prediction on his fight with Ilia Topuria at UFC 317

Speaking to Full Violence, the Brazilian MMA legend made a bold prediction for the fight, proclaiming that he will knock Topuria out, and not the other way around.

“It’s a great fight, he’s a great fighter, but I don’t need to prove anything to anyone about who I am,” Oliveira said. “This fight came at a huge opportunity. I will knock out this guy. That’s for real.”

Oliveira has developed into a skillful and potent striker on the feet, despite his reputation as a grappler. Along with his numerous submissions, he has ten knockout or TKO victories. This includes stopping Jared Gordon, Michael Chandler, and Beneil Dariush. Therefore, Oliveira has the power to eliminate Topuria, even though it may not happen.

Oliveira will be remembered as one of the greatest lightweights of all time, no matter what.

When he defeated Chandler in a bout for the unclaimed title in 2021, he won the UFC gold for the first time. He subsequently successfully defended the championship by submitting Dustin Poirier, but regrettably, he lost the title when he failed to show up for his rematch with Justin Gaethje. He was scheduled to meet with Islam Makhachev for the vacant belt after submitting Gaethje. Despite making weight this time, he lost the fight by choice.

Topuria is a former featherweight champion of the UFC. He has never lost and most recently defeated Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski before giving up his title and going lightweight.
