Young Indian boxer Naman Tanwar brought in the thirty-fifth medal for India. The nineteen year old boxer was involved in a fiery semi-final bout in the 91 kg weight category against Jason Whateley. The Australian Whateley has been one of the boxers of the tournament and his bout against Tanwar was a barn-burner of a match.

The young Tanwar lost the match via unanimous decision (5-0). However, he still managed to secure a bronze medal.

On the other hand, Hussamuddin Mohammed fought his way to the medal in a rather spectacular fashion. Mohammed defeated Boe Warawara of Vanuatu in the round of 16 bout, via unanimous decision (5-0). He then faced Everisto Mulenega of Zamibia in the quarter finals. He was victorious again with a unanimous decision victory (5-0).

He faced Peter McGrail of England in Boxing men’s 56 kg semi final. Mohammed started the bout in a great way and dominated the Englishman with his precise, power punching. McGrail was mostly defending in the first round with slick head movement and impressive footwork. McGrail then made an epic comeback and went on the offensive as soon as round 2 began, Mohammed got in a few good punches but was largely out-boxed and out-struck by his opponent. Round 3 was to be the decisive round and McGrail again continued to dominate the action.

Peter McGrail won the bout via unanimous decision (5-0). However, just like Tanwar even Mohammed managed to secure the bronze medal for India.
