How Much It Cost to Train in Thailand

According to Sethi, Indian fighters can expect a monthly spent of at least INR 70,000. He explained, the biggest cost is of the dormitory (rented accommodation) and fees to the coaches. However, he explained that compared to big Indian metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai the cost of living is relatively lower.
Availability of cheap and healthy food options make it easier for the fighters to manage cost. In addition, once the fighters have achieved some experience in the amateur circuit they can turn pro and earn 1500-2000 Thai Bath per fight (this the lowest level of the fight purse. Experienced fighters attract higher salaries)

Visa is the biggest hurdle

Sethi explained that apart from the cost of training and living, visa is the biggest roadblock for Indian fighters. Currently, Thailand offers short stay visa of 2 months to Indians (Currently, Thai gov is running a special scheme of Visa free entry for Indians up to 10 May 2024). Getting a long term visa to train becomes a challenge and people resort to tricking the system by taking study visa.

Get the Best of Thailand: Do a 2 Month Camp

Sethi explains that fighters who are already training in India should opt for a short 1-2 month camp in Thailand as it is the best way to get world class training experience in a small budget.
