Gurdarshan Mangat returns to the Circle in a flyweight MMA contest against Yodkaikaew Fairtex at ONE 158 on Friday, 3 June. This will be his first fight since May 2021, where he fought Roshan Mainam. In that fight, he defeated the Manipur based fighter via unanimous decision.
Ahead of the fight, The MMA India Show had the opportunity to chat with Gurdarshan Mangat to talk about his preparation for his fight against Yodkaikaew Fairtex and also he future goals inside the cage.

1) How is your training going ahead of the fight?
My training is going very well. My mind is good and I am ready to represent my people at a high stage like I always have I just hope to enjoy the show and see that lion spirit that our people are built from, the DNA that we are and it’s what I try to represent every time I am inside the cage.
2) You’re returning to the cage after more than a year long layoff? Do you think this will affect you in any way?
I don’t think it will affect me, it’s just the mindset and I will get in there and do what I do. I am comfortable and I know what these stages are and I have years and years of experience and I will do what I do best.
3) What do you know about your opponent and what do you plan on exploiting?
I just know I am a very well versed fighter and I know that I am a much complete fighter compared to him and also compared to a lot of other people in my division and I am going to show them.
4) Although you’re fighting Yodkaikaew Fairtex, you were previously called out by Eko Roni Saputra, who was present in your last fight against Roshan Mainam; he said that he can exploit your style? Are you interested in fighting him next?
I think Eko Roni needs a few more win before he starts calling me out. I am more interested in people that are ranked higher and I got couple of names and I know those couple of names are also interested in me and one of them being Geje Eustaquio, who is the former flyweight champion and he also holds a win over the current champion (Adriano Moraes). So I am looking at that fight that will get me closer to the title.
