In a recent turn of events, Ryan Garcia, the talented boxer, has found himself embroiled in a doping scandal. His legal team has issued a statement claiming that he is a victim of supplement contamination, following positive test results for Ostarine, a banned substance.

Ryan Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in both the A-sample and B-sample collected on the day before and the day of his fight against Devin Haney. Despite this, Garcia vehemently denies intentionally using any banned substances.

According to his legal team, the test results from samples of two supplements—NutraBIO super carb raspberry lemonade and strawberry-flavored Body Heath Perfect Amino—showed Ostarine contamination. These supplements were declared by Garcia on VADA Doping Control Forms.

Is Ryan Garcia a Villain or a Victim?

Garcia’s legal team emphasizes his commitment to clean and fair competition. Throughout his career, he has voluntarily submitted to numerous tests, all of which returned negative results. Additionally, multiple negative tests leading up to his fight against Haney further affirm his clean record.

“The test results from samples of two supplements declared by Ryan Garcia on VADA Doping Control Forms, signed on April 19th and 20th, have returned positive for Ostarine contamination. This confirms what we have consistently maintained: Ryan was a victim of supplement contamination and has never intentionally used any banned or performance-enhancing substances.” Ryan Garcia’s legal team stated.

The ultra-low levels of Ostarine detected in Garcia’s samples—measured in the billionth of a gram range—support the theory of contamination rather than intentional ingestion. His clean hair sample also reinforces this argument.

The matter will be heard by the New York State Athletic Commission since the fight took place in Brooklyn. The commission’s response is awaited. Garcia’s legal team stands firm, asserting that any claims questioning Ryan’s integrity as a clean fighter are unequivocally false and defamatory.

While the controversy continues, Ryan Garcia’s legal team remains steadfast in their defense. Whether the supplement contamination argument will hold up remains to be seen, but the boxing world watches closely as this saga unfolds.
