Rafael Fiziev has pulled out of his scheduled fight against Rafael Dos Anjos which was supposed to take place at UFC 272 in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, top lightweight contender Islam Makhachev is ready to replace Fiziev and has agreed to fight at the welterweight limit.
Rafael Fiziev had arrived in Las Vegas from Thailand, but he contracted covid and has been battling it for the past 3 days.
Immediately after it was announced that Rafael Fiziev has pulled out of his fight, Islam Makhachev threw his hat in to replace the Kazakh fighter.

“170 ??? Let’s do it. We have unfinished business RDA @ufc @espnmma @bokamotoESPN @MMAjunkieJohn” Makhahev said on Twitter.
UFC lightweight fighter Paul Felder also threw his hat in to fight Rafael Dos Anjos.

“I wonder if the course of the dragon still holds true with an immediate rematch? 174” Felder said. “How many days this time?”
Although a lot of fighters have thrown their name to fight Rafael Dos Anjos, however, a fight between him and Islam Makhachev would make a lot of sense as it’s a bigger and a more competitive fight.
UFC 272 is headlined by a welterweight fight between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington.
