IslamThe UFC BMF belt has always received mixed receptions, and Islam Makhachev is on the rougher side.

Two people never can be champions: Islam Makhachev

The symbolic title, an abbreviation of “baddest motherf***r”,was brought by the UFC after Nate Diaz had called out Jorge Masvidal to defend his “Baddest Mother F****r” belt. The two fought at UFC 244 and Masvidal won the belt.

However, “Gamebred” never actually defended the BMF belt later on and after his retirement, the UFC announced that the belt will be contested at UFC 291– featuring the two top 155-pounders: Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

The divisional champion Makhachev thinks the belt is for the “bums” and even if he has to fight the winner of Poirier vs Gaethje 2, he has zero interest in fighting for the BMF title.

“Listen, one question. If Dustin Poirier beats Justin Gaethje, and he’s gonna fight next for the lightweight title, he’s gonna come with BMF title? He going to come to Abu Dhabi with his BMF title? I don’t want this s**t. BMF, what is this?… This belt’s for the bums. First time who fought for this belt? Nate Diaz and Masvidal,” Makhachev told Daniel Cormier on YouTube.

“Two people never can be champions, you know? They give him some belt (and say), be happy, fight for BMF. What is this, I don’t know. Gaethje and Poirier, they fight for the real belt many times and they always lose. Now, Dana is a good guy give him other belt, guys you have to be BMF champion. Honestly, if someone gives me this belt tomorrow, I don’t want this s**t.”

“I can beat them, I can fight with Poirier or Gaethje but I don’t need the BMF shit, brother. I can beat this guy easy,” added Makhachev. [H/T BJPenn.com]
