UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has confirmed that he is not going to fight his friend, the UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Both of them have showcased their friendship over the years and have said on multiple occasions said that they won’t fight each other. The UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has said on multiple occasions that he would have moved up from welterweight to middleweight only if Israel wasn’t the champion. The talk about their super-fight was closed but recently, Kamaru Usman’s manager Ali Abdelaziz said that he wants Usman to fight Adesanya as they aren’t best friends.

“Listen, these guys, they’re cool but I don’t think they’re best friends,” Abdelaziz said about Usman vs. Adesanya. “If there is enough money for both of them to fight, they will fight in the parking lot. I know how people work. This has nothing to do with loyalty, because these guys, it’s not like they’re training partners or brothers. They’re African brothers and that holds a lot of value … but at the end of the day, I’m Kamaru Usman’s team all the way. I want to see Kamaru Usman, before the end of the road, have two titles. I’m selfish, I’m greedy, and I think Kamaru deserves it” Ali Abdelaziz said.

Israel Adesanya won’t fight Kamaru Usman

In his recent interview, Israel Adesanya was asked whether he would fight Usman to which he replied that they both are not interested in fighting. According to Israel Adesanya, this fight won’t happen because it’s bigger than money and Israel has nothing to gain from this fight.

“Kamaru can speak for himself and he has, and I’ve spoken for myself and we said we wouldn’t fight each other,” Adesanya told TSN. “For me personally, it’s bigger than money. Also, I have nothing to gain. It’s the guy coming up from a lower-weight class that looks to challenge himself that’s almost the protagonist of the story. That gets to rise to the occasion and that’s cool, but Kamaru’s not interested.”

“Ali is just greedy. He sees dollar signs, but I’m like you can make that money elsewhere. But he’s just super greedy and for me, it’s bigger than money. If I was gonna do this sh*t for money and retire, I would have retired three fights ago. I’m set, but nah, it’s bigger than money. It’s just about legacy.”

“I’m still looking to capture that image of me, Kamaru and Francis as the three kings because we haven’t done that yet together,” Adesanya said.

He continued, “I understand what Kamaru says about competing because yeah we could do that. Come to the gym you’ll see me and Dan Hooker, me and Carlos Ulberg, me and Blood Diamond compete against each other. So me and Kamaru can do that, but for the world to see, it’s bigger than money. It’s not just about money. It’s about our nation, taking gold back to where it belongs.”
