As a habit in the UFC, Israel Adesanya has never been the Underdog. It has just not happened. Adesanya was even the preferred favourite over the likes of Anderson Silva and Kelvin Gastelum. However, for the first time in his 7 fights in the UFC, Adesanya is going into it as the underdog.

When betting opened on a fight between Kelvin Gastelum and Israel Adesanya on Monday by BetOnline portal, Adesanya was given a +160 odd, while Robert Whittaker was given -185 odds. While odds really don’t mean anything when it comes to a fight, however, this is the first time that Adesanya has ever opened a fight as an Underdog.

Whittaker has not yet returned from injury, but when he does, he will likely be facing Adesanya in a fight in Oceania region, given that both fighters originate from the area.

Adesanya is currently on a 6-fight win streak in the UFC and has not taken a single loss in his UFC career. His last win came in a miraculous manner against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 236.

Meanwhile, Whittaker’s last fight came against Yoel Romero, where he won the fight. This was back in 2018, and he won the fight via a Split Decision.
