Israel Adesanya recently pulled off what is the biggest achievement of his young UFC career till date, after he remained undefeated, and took out Anderson Silva in a fight via Unanimous Decision. There is no rest for the weary, however, as there appears to be a fight already set for him at UFC 236. It is unlikely that he will be complaining, as the fight is for the UFC Interim Middleweight Title.
At UFC 234, Kelvin Gastelum was supposed to headline the main event in a UFC Middleweight Title fight against Robert Whittaker. However, the very night before the fight, Whittaker had medical complications and needed to be taken to the hospital to deal with a hernia and a collapsed bowel. This left Gastelum without a fight, something that was a huge blow for the fighter who had trained months for specifically that moment.
Instead, Anderson Silva and Israel Adesanya, who had been in the co-main event stepped up to the main event spot, where Israel defeated Anderson Silva.
While Whittaker will try to return over the Summer, UFC might be going ahead for an Interim Title fight in April, between Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum. Adesanya is yet to lose a fight in his professional career, heading into this one.
