Israel Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker 2 official for UFC 271 on February 12

UFC has finally made the official announcement of one of the most anticipated rematch in UFC between Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker. The UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will be defending his middleweight title against the no.1 contender in the division Robert Whittaker at UFC 271 which takes place on February 12. Israel Adesanya will be facing Robert Whittaker in a rematch as they previously faced each other at UFC 243 where Robert lost his UFC middleweight title against then challenger Israel. Israel Knocked out Robert in the second round of the fight and became the middleweight champion.

Now the pair are set to collide again and this time around their roles have been switched as Israel now will be trying to defend his title against Robert. The fight was announced by the promotion during UFC 269 event. The fight will be taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Israel Adesanya won the UFC middleweight title after defeating Robert Whittaker at UFC 243. Since then he has defended his title thrice against top contenders like Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Marvin Vettori. He has just lost one fight in his MMA career, against former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. Adesanya had challenged Jan for the light-heavyweight title as he wanted to become a double champion in the UFC but his dream was stopped in tracks by Jan who used his wrestling to overpower Adesanya and get a decision win over him.

The former UFC Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker after losing his title to Adesanya has fought his way back to the top of the division. He is on an amazing three-fight winning streak. He has won fights against Darren Till, Jared Cannonier, Kelvin Gastelum. Before losing his title, he had won his title against Yoel Romero and also made his first title defense against Yoel.

Israel Adesanya says UFC lying about the matchup

After UFC announced the matchup, Israel commented on the tweet with a cap emoji which meant that the UFC is trying to fool everyone and the fight is not official yet. At the UFC 269 post-fight press conference Dana White responded to these comments by Israel and said that he has no idea what Israel is trying to tell the Fans.

“Listen, if he doesn’t want to fight Whittaker, OK, then I guess we’ll find another fight,” White said. “Who gives a sh*t? I definitely don’t give a sh*t. You don’t want the Whittaker fight to be on? OK, then find something else.”

“Why would we lie?” White said. “When have we ever f*cking lied? This fight’s coming up…we lied about it? Twenty f*cking years, have we ever lied about making a fight? Some fights are harder to make than others, but I don’t think we’ve ever lied about making a fight. Why would we lie about that fight?”

Who do you guys think will the rematch?
