UFC middleweight fighter Jack Hermansson says that he will be a very tough matchup for the UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya faced his first Pro MMA loss against Jan Blachowicz when he challenged Jan for the Light-heavyweight championship with a dream to become a two-division champion. But the dream was soon destroyed by the polish powerhouse who used his strength and grappling to get a sheer advantage over Israel. The striking battle between them was very competitive but Israel seems to have a little edge over Jan. But the moment Jan Blachowicz used his grappling, the tide started shifting in the favour of the light-heavyweight champion.
Jack Hermansson is coming off a hard-fought loss against Marvin Vettori who now will be fighting for the belt against Israel Adesanya. Vettori who scored wins against Jack and Kevin Holland is given the title shot as the no.1 contender Rober Whittaker won’t be available to fight in June at UFC 263. Jack will now be fighting Edmen Shahbazyan at UFC 262 which is headlined by Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira fighting for the Vacant Lightweight Championship.
Jack Hermansson now plans to get back to the winning column and fight for the belt. He thinks that he will fight Israel Adesanya one day and Hermansson has a plan ready for it.
Jack Hermansons talks about Shahbazyan, Vettori, and Adesanya
Hermansson spoke with LowKickMMA about facing Shahbazyan at UFC 262 and what his future looks like in the division.
“He’s a good opponent and a great standup fighter,” Hermansson said. “He’s a good challenge, but on the other hand I believe my style is a good match up against him. I feel very ready to fight.”
Hermansson was first originally scheduled to fight Darren Till who was replaced By Holland but then later Holland could not pass the covid-19 protocols and was eventually removed from the fight. Marvin Vettori took the fight on short notice and defeated Jack. Before that loss, Hermansson was coming off with victories over Kelvin Gastelum and Jacare Souza. Jack is now confident that few more wins would get him back in the title race. He also feels that a rematch with Vettori will surely happen in the future.
“I think we’re gonna meet again for sure,” Hermansson told LowKickMMA.”It was a good fight, we fought hard for five rounds, and it just didn’t go my way. Whatever it takes to get to that belt, whatever it takes.”
“I’m probably the hardest matchup for him out there,” Hermansson said when asked about a future bout against Adesanya. “Blachowicz showed some weaknesses in his game, his bottom game is not the best. If I can get on top of him, he’s in big trouble.
