The UFC’s heavyweight division has been a bit stagnant for quite a while now with not nearly enough new, young fighters coming up to challenge the old and gritty veterans of the sport. However, there still are a few talented up and coming fighters. One such fighter is Jairzinho Rozenstruick, who will now be facing the legendary veteran Alistair Overeem at UFC on ESPN: Overeem vs. Rozenstruick.
It should be noted that this UFC on ESPN event in Washington DC was previously being headlined by Walt Harris alongside Overeem. However, Harris recently pulled out of the fight to continue the search for his missing daughter.
Jairzinho just recently fought and spectacularly defeated Andrei Arlovski at UFC 244 via a sensational first round 40 seconds knockout due to a big counter left hook. Thus, he is making a quick turn around to fight Overeem. The UFC recently confirmed Jairzinho as the replacement for Harris and Overeem’s new opponent by putting out the new poster for the event on Twitter.
