Jairzinho ‘Big Boy’ Rozenstruik is all set to fight Alistair Overeem at UFC on ESPN 7 event this weekend at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC.
The 31-year old Surinamese born MMA fighter is in the midst of an absolutely terrific winning streak. He was won all 9 of his fights inside the Octagon with 8 of them ending in stoppage wins.
Rozenstruik made his UFC debut earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 144, where he knocked out Junior Albini in the second round. His last fight took place at UFC 244 against Jairzinho Rozenstruik where he knocked out the Russian in just 29 seconds.
He took the fight at UFC on ESPN 7 on short notice as it was Walt Harris who was originally scheduled to headline the fight card alongside Overeem. However, even though his fight against Overeem is the biggest of his career till date, he already has future opponents in mind. He recently appeared on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show, where he revealed that he wants to fight former title challenger Francis Ngannou.

“For me, beating Alistair Overeem means a lot, but the fight I’m looking for is the Francis Ngannou fight. He’s a big, scary guy and I think that’s amazing. You put two big heavyweights who are strong and hit hard to create a bomb in the Octagon. I like exciting fights. To me, that would be a great fight. That’s the goal for now,” Rozenstruik said.
“We’re looking to be the best fighter in the world. In order to be the best, you have to beat the best. We are professionals and I like that fight, me against Francis Ngannou, two big scary guys. That’s exciting for me, that’s a big challenge. I really want to do that challenge also for myself and also to entertain the UFC fans. I think everybody wants to see that fight.” he concluded.
