Jairzinho Rozenstruik calls out Curtis Blaydes for a fight next

UFC Heavyweight prospect Jairzinho Rozenstruik is back to win the column with a spectacular late first-round knockout of another rising contender Augusto Sakai at UFC Vegas 28.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik defeated Augusto Sakai by TKO in the main event of UFC Fight Night 189 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This was a very important fight for Jairzinho as he was coming off back-to-back losses. The moment the fight started it was clear what was Bigi Boy’s intention going into the fight. He was trying to knock out his opponent Augusto with every strike he was throwing. Though he was very patient it was clear that he was throwing those hands with all his power behind them.

In the very last moment of the first round, Jairzinho got Sakai on the fence where he landed a left hand and a perfectly timed overhand right which knocked down Sakai and then he followed it with some ground strikes before the referee jumped in to call off the fight. Sakai has now lost two in a row for the first time in his career.

The Suriname native has now got six wins under the UFC, including wins in two of three main event fights. The stoppage came at precisely 4:59 in the first round with Rozenstruik earning his sixth win in the UFC with all of those winnings coming by way of knockout. Before this win, he faced two conductive losses against Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

“This is what we wanted and it played out,” Rozenstruik said about his performance. “As soon as I heard the clock, I faked him with the right and dropped him with the left and hit him with the right again.”

During the UFC on ESPN post-fight, Rozenstruik was asked who would he be interested to face next to which he replied by saying, Blaydes. Rozenstruik is currently ranked No. 6 overall in the UFC and Blaydes is ranked No. 4. He said that if Blaydes loves the matchup he can accept the fight and they could fight soon.

“I mean that’s a name, he was asking for this fight for a long time. If he wants it and he’s ready, let’s go. I mean, he’s ranked above me. I’m looking there for my space back in the top-three, pulling back into title contention. So if that fight is going to bring me there, I’m on it,” Rozenstruik said.

“Right now, everybody that’s ranked above me makes sense,” Rozenstruik said. “I’m coming for you guys. I’m coming.”
