Celebrity boxer Jake Paul has launched a fresh accusation against Dana White. Apparently, the UFC president has threatened Paul and his promotion with legal action over the marketing of his upcoming boxing match against former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva this Saturday.
I’m the number one figurehead… exposing Dana White’s business model: Jake Paul
Over the past nearly two years, Paul and White have been at one another. The two have gone back and forth a number of times, especially since Paul knocked out former UFC welterweight Ben Askren last year. UFC’s pay model has repeatedly been criticized by ‘The Problem Child’, who has also called for better benefits for the fighters.
In his last two fights after Askren, Paul defeated former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley, twice, including a vicious knockout in the second fight last December. In his return to the ring, Paul will face Silva on 29th October in Glendale, Arizona.
Earlier this year, UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou alleged that White and the UFC had attempted to sue his manager over talks with Paul. And now with Paul vs. Silva just around the corner, Paul has alleged that White is once again stepping up legal pressure.
“The list goes on, and some of it I can’t even speak on, but he’s been sending cease and desist for my content promoting this fight,” Paul spoke to the media recently. “Doing things behind the scenes that are really shady. We’re just finding out more and more stuff as the promotion goes on. I’m sure I’ll speak on it more at a later date.”
“I think it’s because I’m the number one figurehead that’s exposing his business model and how much of a shark he is, and how poorly he treats his fighters. He said I wouldn’t fight Anderson Silva who is one of the UFC’s greats, and here I am fighting him. He largely in part promoted that. He’s the reason why I took this fight is to prove him wrong and to shut him the hell up,” he added. [H/T MMA News]
