The hottest boxing sensation Jake Paul has made an interesting statement regarding his love for boxing in which he has said that if boxing wasn’t a part of his life then he would have been in jail or at worst dead. Jake Paul in the past couple of years has taken the world of combat sports by storm. Though his way of getting the combat world’s attention wasn’t the best he then backed it up with some amazing boxing matches against former UFC fighters Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. He is currently 5-0 in pro boxing and has already made tons of money through it.
Now in one of his latest interviews with a legendary boxing coach and commentator Teddy Atlas, Jake Paul shared his thoughts on the impact boxing has had on his life and how his life would be if boxing wasn’t a part of it.
“I understand people’s perspective about how it’s a circus and how this isn’t boxing but again all I’m doing is putting in the work and trying to get better in the gym and fighting tougher opponents each time. I respect this sport more than anything,” Paul said. “I think anyone that puts on the 10 oz gloves and gets in that squared circle should be respected because you’re risking your life at the end of the day and that’s why I take this very seriously,”
“All I ever wanted to do is to contribute to the sport, bring new eyeballs to the sport, help fighters get paid more.”
“Boxing saved my life, so I owe a ton to it. I would be in jail or probably dead somewhere if it weren’t for boxing because I was going down a really weird path in my early 20s that wasn’t sustainable and because of that I owe everything to this sport. (h/t MiddleEasy)
“That’s why I’m so passionate about making boxing great again. I have the hat that says make boxing great again…I’ll slowly earn more people’s respect.”
Jake Paul was last scheduled to face undefeated pro boxer Tommy Fury but he pulled out of the bout due to medical issues. It was then announced that Tyron Woodley would replace Fury in the fight, a rematch of their previous match in Ohio back in August. The pair fought the rematch in Tampa, Florida on December 18, 2021. Jake Pual won that fight via KO in the sixth round and buried his fighting series with Woodley with a 2-0 lead.
Now Jake Paul is planning for his next bout against any top combat sports athlete and is rooting for a boxing match against the biggest UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
