The boxing match between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley has reportedly made around 480,000-500,000 PPV buys. The duo fought an eight-round fight at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland on August 29. The fight ended in a judge’s decision victory for Jake Paul. The fight was pretty close and both the fighters had a different strategy going into the fight. The only fight-ending moment in the fight was when Tyron Woodley knocked Jake Paul backward who somehow stayed on the fight while holding onto the ropes. After the decision loss, Woodley asked for an immediate rematch and Paul stated that he would fight the rematch only if Woodley get an ‘I Love Jake Paul’ tattoo.
According to the reports the PPV buys may vary slightly. There’s no official announcement made regarding the same. The pay-per-view was available for $59.99 in the United States and the fight went down in Paul’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio so the stadium was packed with Jake Paul supporters. The duo also made around $2 million each for their boxing match. Jake Pual later revealed that he took a low paycheck as he wanted the fighters on the rest of the card to get enough money.
Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley rematch?
After the fight, Woodley demanded the rematch as he felt he did more damage than Paul who just fought on volume and didn’t have a single significant moment in the fight.
“I feel like I won the fight,” Woodley said after the fight. “I feel like Jake’s a great opponent. I didn’t expect him to go down. I and my coaches worked on that. That’s why I came in great shape because I knew he could take a punch. But the fact the one judge gave me two rounds is laughable. No disrespect, but f**k the Fury fight, me and Jake need to run that back.”
“Off the top I want an instant rematch,” Woodley continued. “Nobody going to sell a pay-per-view like we did. Fury ain’t going to do it. Of course I want a rematch. I felt like I won the fight. I felt like he was tough but I hit him and the ropes held him up. I landed the more power shots. When he threw shots they were hitting my gloves. And when he landed a clean shot, which he did. He landed clean shots and I knew he had heavy hands. But I didn’t hit the ground like his other opponents. I walked him down and I landed back. So let’s run it back.”
Jake Paul agreed to the rematch but put a clause in the rematch as he asked Woodley to get the ‘I Love Jake Paul’ and then they can discuss it any further regarding their rematch.
“I told him, if he wants to get the tattoo, put it on his Instagram,” Paul said during the post-fight news conference. “Permanent tattoo. Then maybe we’ll talk about it. But to be honest, I won convincingly. We’re gonna go back to the drawing board, but I think I proved a lot tonight.”
