Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley’s saga started when they first met during Paul vs Askren boxing match in the backstage. They ran into each other and exchanged some words with each other. After Jake Paul knocked out Ben who is a training partner of Woodley, he straight away called for his shot against Jake. Soon it was announced that Paul has agreed to a boxing match with former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Showtime later announced the fight will take place on Aug. 28, with ESPN reporting it will be contested at 190 pounds inside of a 20-foot ring. A location and venue have yet to be determined.

Jake Paul made headlines in April with a first-round knockout of former Bellator and ONE Championship titleholder Ben Askren in a Triller Fight Club boxing event. Paul’s previous two victories came over NBA veteran Nate Robinson and YouTuber Ali Eson Gib. After his fight was announced Jake went on to his social media handles and posted a fight poster with Woodley.

“This will be the hardest fight I’ve had, the toughest opponent by far, the most known opponent,” Paul wrote on his Instagram. “We will break another boxing PPV record.”

Jake Paul has posted a photo on Instagram in which he is seen doing boxing drills underwater with a caption that says a lot about his game plan against Tyron Woodley.

my pro fights haven’t lasted long, but in sparring, I love taking my opponents into deep waters and drowning them with my overwhelming cardio, consistency, and precise punch selection… Soon we will see how well Tyron can swim,” Paul wrote on Instagram.

On the other hand, Tyron Woodley has also made a bold prediction of their fight and said that he can finish Paul in the third round.

“This is a new chapter for me,” Woodley told Michael Bisping on the Believe You Me podcast. “You know how this sport works, when you knock a motherf*cker out, you go to the next level and you really start to get on a roll, nobody’s gonna remember those fights. To be honest, all those fights during the pandemic, all the fights during the APEX, no crowd, that’s gonna all become an exhibition in our life. That’s not gonna be remembered like the UFC 205s or the big U2 arena fights. The fans made it. The fans made it what it was, so for me, I think what people are going to see is a continuation of what they saw against (Vicente) Luque but without me getting caught. The pressure, the dominance. He’s back.”

“I think three,” Woodley said. “First round sounds cocky, sounds dope, but I just know that if I’m fighting Tyron Woodley, everyone is going to tell him to cover up, weather the storm, clinch him, grab him, keep him away from you, stay at distance, watch out for the right hand. I’ve got to set a couple traps so I may need a round or two to set some traps, see what he responds to and I think third round I should be able to clean up the deal.”
