Mike Perry, the former UFC welterweight fighter, is gearing up for a cruiserweight boxing match against Jake Paul. Interestingly, it’s none other than Tyron Woodley, Paul’s former opponent, who has stepped in with valuable advice for Perry.

Tyron Woodley Opens up on Jake Paul Vs Mike Perry Fight

In a recent interview with The Schmo, Woodley shared insights based on his experience fighting Paul twice. First, he addressed Paul’s decision to take this fight ahead of a potential Mike Tyson bout.

Woodley remarked, “I think Jake [Paul] making this fight happen shows us that he recognizes, ‘I don’t want to wait five months.’ It’s not going to have the same level of enthusiasm to wait that long for a Mike Tyson fight.”

“We’re still going to watch it, but to give us something in-between, and it’s a risky fight, just kind of shows that he has a screw loose. But he also knows if he does well, his brand is just going to keep going to the top.”

When asked about advice for Perry, Woodley emphasized composure and patience. He explained that Perry needs to be aware of Paul’s style—punching, sticking, and moving. Woodley’s key tip for Perry: “Be in hook throwing distance, do damage, so he can hit the body.”

While Jake Paul is the favorite to win, Woodley acknowledges that Perry is a live dog—a fighter Paul should take seriously. Perry, who recently parted ways with the UFC, has found new life in BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship). However, he faces a size disadvantage against Paul, who isn’t a true boxer either.
