Jan Blachowicz not only believes Jon Jones’ heavyweight debut isn’t actually coming, but also feels we might have already seen his last days in the Octagon.

The return of Jon Jones remains one of the most awaited among the MMA fans. A former two time UFC Light Heavyweight champion, ‘Bones’ had his last fight against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 back in February 2020.

Since then, Jones vacated his 205-pound title, with a planned jump up to heavyweight, but his heavyweight debut is yet to happen. Recently, there were speculations that Jones will supposedly make his return against Stipe Miocic at UFC 282 next month, but that fight was also chucked due to the former heavyweight champ turning down the contest.

I think Jon Jones’ afraid to lose: Jan Blachowicz

While the combat sports fandom wonders about Jones’ return at heavyweight, Jan Blachowicz, another former 205-pound champ, believes Jones will not be returning to the cage as he is afraid to lose.

“I don’t believe Jon Jones will be back to fighting anymore. I think he’s afraid to lose so much that he will do everything to not come back. There was a time when he dominate completely our division,” Blachowicz revealed James Lynch of MiddleEasy.

“After a couple of years, everybody catch his level, and it was very hard for him to win the fight. Like with Dominick Reyes, it was a very, very close fight. Everybody who fight against him, it was a close fight. Closer and closer. So, I think he started feeling that he’s not so good anymore, that we are growing up, catching his level, and finally someone will stop him. I think the reason he doesn’t want to fight is that he’s afraid to lose,” Blachowicz added.

In his second to last outing in the Octagon, Jones had a very close contest against Thiago Santos at UFC 239 and despite winning the fight, it was via split decision, marking the first time Jones lost on a judge’s scorecard. The Reyes fight was also very close and even though it was a unanimous decision victory for Jones, many opined that it was Reyes who won.
