Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Błachowicz provided an update following a surgery on his shoulder.
Blachowics has racked knockout wins over the likes of Luke Rockhold, Corey Anderson, and Dominick Reyes and built a reputation for his powerful strikes and he has been dubbed as the “Legendary Polish Power.”
Unfortunately, the Polish fighter has been on the sidelines after suffering an injury that required surgery. He was originally scheduled to make his comeback at next month’s UFC 297 pay-per-view in Toronto, Canada. He was set to battle it out with European standout Aleksandar Rakić, who he defeated via TKO last May. Błachowicz was forced out of the January 20 card due to shoulder injury.
Jan Blachowicz undergoes surgery
Jan Blachowicz underwent surgery and thankfully, it was successful. Following the procedure, he took to his Twitter account and shared an update for his fans. He revealed that the first shoulder was operated but there was too much work to do. Thereby, another surgery will take place for the other shoulder at a later date. He posted his picture and wrote:
“First shoulder operated on. Unfortunately, there was too much work to do with one, so they couldn’t fix both at once. Another surgery soon. I’ll have to wait a little longer to come back. I wish you all Merry Christmas!”

Jan Błachowicz shares details of the injury
During a recent interview with BJPENN.com, Błachowicz provided details on the injury that has left him on the sidelines.
“I feel it for like three years, something (an injury) like this. I feel pain in my shoulders, but I accept the pain. Last three months, two months, I started losing my power, my strength,” Jan Błachowicz said. “40 percent goes, I tried and do something with physiotherapy and doctors, and they tried to fix it, but every training was worse.”
“When I did wrestling, I’d hold someone and they’d just grab my hand and open it like this, too easy,” Błachowicz continued. “We did an MRI on both shoulders because I feel pain in both of them, and I need to clean it. If I were to clean it, I can come back to training. They said after this, after good recovery, my power will be back. I feel pain, but the pain is okay. The power, I feel like a two-year-old girl, so it’s not possible to prepare for a fight.”
We at MMA India wish him a speedy recovery,
