The UFC’s light heavyweight division has mostly been ruled by the current champion and one of the all time pound for pound greats, Jon Jones in the past decade. Every fighter in the 205 pounds division comes in with that dream of beating Jones, so far 25 fighters have tried, and none have succeeded. However, one light heavyweight, in particular, i.e. the Polish Jan Blachowicz is eager to step up and defeat Jones.
Blachowicz stated in a recent interview given on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show that he truly believes he is the one to stop Jones. He also said that he feels the division is now finally catching up to Jones. Here’s what he had to say:
A lot of people said if he beats me, he would be next for Jon Jones, I beat him (Luke Rockhold), so it is my turn. He (Jon Jones) is the same, but we are just better, we’ve started catching him. We’ve come on his level right now. I want that. I deserve that and I believe I am the one to stop Jon Jones.
