Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz is willing to do a “sacrificial” move down to 185 and take on Israel Adesanya once again for the UFC Middleweight Championship.

For Izzy and his belt, I can try: Jan Blachowicz

Blachowicz and Adesanya locked horns for the first time at UFC 259 in march last year, when Blachowicz was the 205-pound champ and despite being the underdog, handed Izzy his first professional career defeat via unanimous decision.

More than a year later, the man with the “Legendary Polish Power” told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour about a rematch and this time, Blachowicz is willing to go down to middleweight and take on “The Last Stylebender” once again for the 185-pound title.

“Maybe this is the reason that now he (Adesanya) will be very careful in the fights to not make any mistakes,” said Blachowicz, “Just don’t lose the fight. Maybe I have to cut the weight and give him rematch in his category.”

“If I have a chance, why not? For Izzy and his belt, to fight for the belt? I can try,” the 39-year-old added.

Despite fighting exclusively at Light Heavyweight throughout his MMA career, Blachowicz opines a little sacrifice of the essence, when the UFC Middleweight title shot, as well as the chance to go 2-0 against Adesanya is in the conversation.

“I don’t remember [the lightest I’ve been as an MMA fighter] but when I was a fighter in Muay Thai, it was 91 kilos or [200 pounds]. For a title, I can sacrifice myself a little bit. Why not? I will do it,” Blachowicz added. [H/T MMA Fighting]

After losing his title to Glover Teixeira at UFC 267 back in October, Blachowicz returned victorious against Aleksandar Rakić at UFC Vegas 54 in May. Earlier, the Pole had also nodded to a contest against Kamaru Usman, the reigning Welterweight champion who recently said about a jump up to 205 after the Leon Edwards rematch at UFC 278 on 20th August in Utah.
