UFC featherweight Jeremy Stephens appears interested in fighting Giga Chikadze after the Georgians’s latest victory at UFC Vegas 13 where Chikadze scored a beautiful head kick KO over Jamey Simmons.
Giga Chikadze beat Jamey Simmons with a first-round knockout Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN+ 40 in Las Vegas. After the fight, while talking to the media Giga talked about his win and what he wants next.
“It’s kind of my signature — people call this the ‘Giga kick.’ I set it up a couple of times to the body and then I went in high.”
“I was so excited and prepared for this moment. I’m just very happy to celebrate this. … I’m just enjoying it. Before, I was a kickboxer and still dreaming about this kind of moment. I wanted world MMA fans to watch my talent and skill set. Finally, I’m there and enjoying each moment. I feel blessed because there are so many good fighters who aren’t getting these opportunities. I feel blessed and really happy to be here.”
Giga says he wants to fight Stephens next.
“Arnold Allen had scheduled a fight with Jeremy Stephens, and he didn’t take the fight. So I deserve his shot.”
Jeremy Stephens took to Twitter on Saturday night following Chikadze’s callout and said he accepts the challenge.

Stephens vs Chikadze could be an amazing matchup
Jeremy Stephens is currently 0-4 and one no-contest in his last five. The 34-year-old is coming off a brutal KO loss to Calvin Kattar at UFC 249. Before that, he dropped a decision to Yair Rodriguez after the eye poke no-contest incident with Rodriguez a month earlier. On his losing streak, he also lost to Zabit Magomedsharipov and Jose Aldo.
Giga Chikadze, meanwhile, is now 4-0 in 2020 and 5-0 in the UFC. During this run, the most notable opponent he fought was Omar Morales where Chikadze won by decision. If he is to fight Stephens in December, it would be a chance for the Georgian to enter the rankings at featherweight.
Jeremy Stephens was cruising towards a potential title shot back in 2018 before his three-fight winning streak was halted by former champ Jose Aldo. He then fought two of the most highly regarded prospects of the division in Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez. He previously fought another upcoming prospect Calvin Kattar at UFC 249 in May. After missing weight, he suffered a brutal second-round TKO defeat. Stephens would like to back on winning ways. And now Jeremy was ready to take on upcoming prospect Arnold Allen in November. Since that fight is off now he has no opponents offered yet.
